Targeted to beer lovers who want to try out different varieties, Moritz Red Ipa beer is the first speciality of a series of new types of limited edition beers with which Cervezas Moritz will expand its presence in the food and hospitality channels. This new variety will supplement the three labels which the company already had so far in the market: Moritz, Epidor and Agua de Moritz 0.0.
Moritz Red Ipa was created by the Moritz Beer Lab, a project which was designed to develop the beer culture by creating different types of beers which could only be tasted at the Moritz factory itself in Barcelona. As a result of its success, the beer now leaves the Moritz factory to reach a number of points of sales in the food and hospitality sector. The Moritz Beer Lab will present different beer specialities in the market during the year, developing new types such as unfiltered beer, wheat beer, ale and spiced beer. Each one will be a new limited edition which can be found for a specific time at the points of sale.
Moritz Red Ipa is an Indian pale ale which plays around with the hops’ sophistication. It is Moritz’s first high fermentation beer. This speciality stands out because it uses three varieties of hops as well as pale and caramel malts roasted at high temperatures. It is dark brown, with touches of ruby, and has a thick, generous and adherent head; what stands out is the bitterness which persists in the mouth, typical of an Indian pale ale. There are fruity aromas of apples, peaches, figs and raisins from the Ale fermentation, with notes of caramel, liquorice, coffee and nuts from the caramel malts roasted at high temperatures.
Moritz Red Ipa is already available in the food and hospitality channels. The formats in which it will be presented will be the typical 33-cl bottle (in a six-pack) for the food and hospitality sectors and the 30-l keg only for the hospitality sector.
According to Sergi Martínez, the marketing manager of Moritz, “with this initiative, we want to continue the legacy which was started over 160 years ago by our founder, Louis Moritz, and boost the beer culture using creativity and innovation and creating new varieties of beer. This new launch increases our offering in quantitative terms, thus reinforcing our presence in the speciality segment.”
