Ambar Export, Ambar Especial and Ambar Centeno were awarded a gold medal at the World Beer Challenge 2017, obtaining 95.2, 95 and 94 points, respectively. Ambar Export won this medal for the third year running and Ambar Especial for the second consecutive year. Ambar Centeno, the latest creation by the Aragon brewery, also won the top medal.

At the WBC 2017, nearly 500 beers from all over the world competed, and only 36 received over 90 points, which is necessary for winning the gold.

In addition to the three gold medals, Ambar also won a silver medal for Ambar Especial Apta para Celíacos, with 84 points, which is very commendable since it was the only gluten-free beer which received a medal.

According to Enrique Torguet, the marketing and communication manager of Cervezas Ambar, “Receiving these awards helps us to continue working with enormous enthusiasm. We try to make a product with the highest quality, and this honour of being among the best beers in the world confirms that we are on the right track.”

AMBAR ESPECIAL

Ambar Especial obtained the highest score in its category (European Style Pilsner) and won the top prize at the WBC. The most universal beer of Cervezas Ambar is a special lager which combines selected varieties of two-row barley and bitter and aromatic hops, providing roundness on the palate and a characteristic bouquet.

AMBAR EXPORT

Ambar Export once again obtained the highest score in the category of German Style Oktoberfest. Ambar Export is a strong lager, brewed with three malts and double fermentation, giving it its firmness and wonderful aftertaste and providing it with its own personal flavour, body and aroma. The slow maturity in the cellar refines its great bouquet.

AMBAR CENTENO

Ambar Centeno is one of the few beers in Spain which uses rye, a very old cereal grain which is barely used in brewing. It provides a complex taste and silky mouthfeel, and it is turbid in appearance.

According to Antonio Fumanal, the company’s master brewer, “The Ambiciosas Ambar collection, to which Ambar Centeno belongs, has been an emphasis on beer creativity. They are our freest interpretations in the beer industry and it is wonderful to know that others have understood this as well as us.”

CERVEZAS AMBAR

Founded in 1900, Cervezas Ambar is an independent Spanish brewery which maintains the family company spirit in constant evolution. It is the brewery with the largest amount of beer varieties, i.e. 15. It continues to brew beer at the brewery which began doing this at the turn of the 20th century in the city of Zaragoza. It maintains the traditional processes from the 20th century such as its own malt house and the only open fermentation vats in Spain at present. Cervezas Ambar exports to over 20 countries.
